A single Nomad in the final

From the Armidale Express Extra’s ‘On ya, sport’, 22/08/2007
Just on Aussie rules briefly and On Ya heard about old New England Nomads player, Marcus Matthews on Monday.

The towering back has made the transition to ruckman with his new team the Gympie Cats in Queensland.

Apparently the Gympie Cats are featuring in AFL Queensland Bundaberg Wide Bay competition.

They beat the Bribie Island Bulldogs 8.5.53 to 3.4.22 in drizzly conditions in the preliminary final.

Apparently Matthews gave a talismanic performance in that match.

Now they’ve got their chance against the Pomona Demons this Saturday, so best of luck Matthews and the rest of the Cats from On Ya and the Nomads.
