Vale Brendan Christopher Nolan (1946-2025) – a true Nomad.
.
Long time supporter, mentor and friend of the Nomads, Brendan Nolan, passed away on Sunday November 2nd in Uralla. Brendan was our first life member and was there from the very beginning when his son Pete played in our first premiership team and was supporting the club in all of the intervening years. There was no job too small or large for Brendan to perform and with his wife Cheryl, they have been the backbone of the club for 25 years.
Brendan was born in Victoria and had a long and distinguished career, playing for Carlton in the mid-60’s, but also rucking in the La Trobe Valley league and also coaching in PNG in the early 70’s. Our thoughts are with Cheryl, Jacqui and Pete and their families.
Brendan’s funeral will be held this Friday the 14th of November, 2025 at Piddingtons Funeral Parlour at 2pm.

Brendan lived a rich and interesting life. He worked at the university in the School of Education, set up a theatre company in Uralla with Cheryl (Colonel Ponsenberry’s) and was pivotal in many community activities.
Below are some photos from his playing days – in no particular order.

Brendan was much loved at our club and made everyone feel welcome, He was a great advocate of the consumption of bananas before games for nutritional purposes and was a passionate advocate for football in the region. He will be greatly missed. His was a life well lived. Thanks Brendo for all that you have done for us here at the Nomads.
