Coach’s Report
After an interrupted five weeks—with only one game played due to the UNE holidays and home ground availability—the Nomads were a little slow off the mark in adjusting back to match conditions. The Tamworth Swans took full advantage, building a solid lead by half time.
But once we regrouped, lifted our intensity, and worked to the team plan, we surged back into the contest with a flurry of late attacks and goals—once again proving that we can match it with any side in the competition.
Oskar Brookshaw has found his home in the backline, Great composuree from one of the several talented 17-year-olds in the team.
Eli Knuckey, impossible to miss with his bold new hair colour, played his best game of the season so far. David (Modra) Richard continues to be the key to the Nomads’ success this year and beyond. First gamer Bobby Boyd was a revelation! He’s set to become one of the real movers and shakers in the weeks ahead. The father-son combination of Johnathon Frost and Johnathon Frost Jr., produced a rare and memorable moment on the field—something you don’t see every day.
If all it takes is Aidan Barry’s mum to turn up for him to play like a superstar, then we may have to bring her on the bus with us for future games!
Even on one leg, Jimmy Walter knows how to light up the crowd and stir up his opposition—true Nomads spirit!
And what a moment for our 49-year-old Mr Fix-It Bachelor Chris Harkness—still full of fight! The whole team got around him when he ignited the fireworks.
50-game veteran Caleb Dobos never lets us down, in true Nomads spirit. Almost qualified for finals!
Clancy Willup, 16-year-old brother of regular player Reilly Widdup, made a special appearance while on holidays. Despite being colour blind—and unable to clearly distinguish between the green of the Nomads and the red of the Swans—Clancy found space on the wing, presented well as a target, and even slotted a goal. Showing the Nomads’ pure grit and determination!
And finally, Lachie Haycock slotted his second goal in just his second week of footy. That’s a goal a game—no pressure, champ!
