Round 1 Nomads Men and Women perform admirably in the first outing in 18 months
The New England Nomads held their own against the Tamworth Kangaroos in the first outing since September 2023. In the men’s game the Nomads lost 5.10.40 to the Tamworth Roos 8.10.58. It was an excellent effort on the part of the team, many of whom had never played before. The game saw the welcome return of old players Johnathan Frost, Hunter Greene, David “Modra” Richards, Caleb Dobos and Wulu Hall.
In the women’s game the Nomads failed to score. But this was not in anyway an accurate reflection of the quality fo the play. New coach Leighton Smith did an admirable job and the standard fo the football was very high. Next week! The scores were New England Nomads 0.0.0 to the Tamworth Roos 12.17.89.
In the men’s event, it was a game of two halves. The team started to gell after half time. At the major break the Nomads had kicked no goals 7 behinds. But they gott their kicking shoes on in the second half. Welcome debuts from many new Nomads including James Walters and Aidan Barry
