Nomads record a win against the competition leaders and Connick kicks Nine

On July 2nd the Nomads played well at Bellevue Oval to beat the competition leaders, the Tamworth Swans. Noah Connick kicked 9 – moving forward after starring the week before at centre-half back. David Richards, Coach-Barker-Dot_Com, Hunter Greene, Sam Jackson, Nick Buckland and Jake Bouchier all had outstanding games. The final score was Nomads 15.8.98 to 10.11.71.

It was another balmy New England winter’s day and the Nomads had much closer to a full team. Tom Hunt returned but Fraser Menzies was out with COVID and the X-Dawg with a broken toe from some late night shenanigans. The Nomads kicked to the Uralla end and began scoring almost immediately. Noah Connick was unstoppable in the air and the Swans had no counter to his aerial ability. The Nomads kicking was an improvement on the earlier week – indeed it was impeccable. Modra had that look in his eye and Clarrie was his usual ebullient self. The scores at the first change were 6.0.36 to 1.4.10.

The second quarter saw the Nomads continue their dominance. Quenten Tomasini was working well with Clarrie and Modra in the midfield and Drew Walsh was busting through packs as only a former Union player can. The scores at half time were Nomads 10.2.62 to the Swans 4.7.31.

The third quarter saw the Nomads back off (which is becoming bit of a pattern and the Swansd otuscored the Nomads in this section of play. The scores at three quarter time were 13.6.84 Nomads to the Swans 8.8.56.

Despite the final score being reasonably conclusive there were times in the last quarter when it looked as if the Swans would over-run the Nomads with their quick ball movement through the corridor. Noah Connick went to the backline for the second half of the quarter (missing out on the chance to kick in the double digits) but he belped steady the ship and the Nomads ran out 27 point winners.
