Nomads bounce back against the Narribri Eagles
The Nomads returned to the winner’s table agaoinst Narribri at the Bellevue oval scoring 25.37.187 to the Eagles’ 4.1.25. See below for Lachy Ewart’s report.
On Saturday the 14th of July the Armidale nomads hosted the Narrabri eagles.
Armidale was keen to put behind the big losses of the last two weeks.
The boys welcomed back more regulars and at home were feeling good.
It was the perfect day for football with even star man (the major) cracking a rare smile when he woke looking over looking over his subjects of Uralla.
Q1-
We were to play with 16 which saw James aka donkey push up onto the wing, first push up he’d done in years.
The ball bounced and the nomads responded.
The nomads had the first couple and Nick was continuing his dominance but this time Nick Locke was starting in square and instead of the circle.
The nomads were up and about early with forward pressure enough to make the rugby boys jealous.
The nomads 4.10, 34 played Narrabri 2.1, 13.
Q2-
The boys were keen to build on the opening of the game and continued in positive fashion.
Harry Wakefield continued his run of half back which has been so threatening all year.
Whilst, in opposite fashion Hamish Morgan kept his patch of grass under shade.
The nomads piled on 7 goals and managed to keep Narrabri scoreless.
The defence effort of Liam and Steve were unstoppable.
The boys went into half time with their heads up and tails wagging.
The nomads 11.16, 82 played Narrabri 2. 1, 13.
Q3-
The nomads were out and ready to go early.
The forward continued to choke Narrabri.
Our brilliant midfielders such as Rambo and even Charles Carson they were winning it at every contest. Mod continued to snag goals.
Even Hamish Morgan got a goal as the boys were lining up to build up the score.
The nomads 20.25,145 played Narrabri 3.1, 19
Q4-
The huddle was tight and the talk was up as nomads left for the quarter.
The back line seemed to just keep pressing up however the accuracy continued to prove in accurate, finishing with 37 behinds.
Despite our continued dominance and pressure this let us down on the day.
Special mention to our Coach James who kicked 6 behinds and two out on the full.
The nomads would like to thank Narrabri for making the effort to come out and play.
We are looking forward to the bye.
Best on for the night out went to Ru Browne for his great chat and Charles Carson who made himself familiar with his constituency.
