Nomads women’s team play first game of season.

The Women’s Nomads played their first game of the season this weekend against Inverell. With only 12 players, no subs and a lot of girls playing their first ever proper afl game, everyone did so well! It was a close game for the first half but Inverell came out on top with a score of 6-20-56 to 6-4-40.

The back line was led by Caroline Keeton, who did an awesome job stopping goals by getting a touch on the ball. The centres struggled in the ruck but all of them got in and gave it a go, despite their height restrictions.. Lisa Raymond scored a great first goal, and another in the 3rd quarter, followed by a persistent Ash Albertson and Amy Pittman dodging the defence to kick her 3 goals. Tremendous effort by Eliza Metz for playing a full game after injuring her hand in the first quarter. Other standouts were Bec Mullen and Emily Wilson. A big thanks to Crystal and Felicity for filling in last minute.

I’m excited to see what the girls can bring to the field as their experience grows!
