Brendan Meehan awarded Nomads Life Membership
At the recent Nomads ball, Brendan Meehan (or ‘Brendo’ as he is affectionately known) was made a life member of the New England Nomads AFC. It was a very well deserved honour for a member of the Club who has been a player, coach, committee man and all-round help about the place. He is only the 4th Nomad to be awarded Life Membership.
Brendo joined the Nomads in 2006 and was a hard-hitting no nonsense backman who ran straight lines and never shirked a contest. He played in 2007 until serious injury ended his playing career. In 2008 he coached the Nomads and was a much loved coach for the next four years. Since stepping down as coach he has not lessened his involvement in the club and game-days would not run as smoothly without him. He is a very necessary cog in the Nomads machine.
As inaugural life member Ronny Crump said from far-off England:
“If it needed to be done Brendan would be be there. If you hadn’t realised it needed to be done, that was often because it had already been dealt with by Brendan. No fuss, no arsing about, get it done. Similar to how he played, except without so many broken ribs. Congratulations, Brendan, very much deserved, have a great night.”
We are very grateful to Brendo for all of the work he has done and this award is one way of showing it.
