The Moree Suns join the TAFL

The following message was put out by the TAFL executive on the weekend.

“We are welcoming into the TAFL League the MOREE SUNS. The final decision was only made yesterday, as the Moree committee had to fulfil a list of obligations, that we required, before we made the decision. Their homeground will be Harbourne Oval, which is a dedicated AFL Ground, which was the home of the Moree Saints till they disbanded in the 90’s.

Therefore the draw that has been previously sent out and distributed to all clubs is now null and void. A new seven team draw will be out to all clubs within the week. This will mean all clubs will in effect now have bye weekends, along with the normal nominated Public Holiday long weekends and the Representative Game weekend which is now also a committed weekend.

The season will still commence on Saturday 11th April and conclude with the grand final on Saturday 19th September 2015. There will be 18 rounds in the draw.

We hope that you all welcome aboard the Moree Suns AFL Club, they have a very enthusiastic committee and a team of players willing to get started. Not only do they have senior players, but also some very eager youngsters wanting to play. So we may see some Auskick matches at half time at some of the games.”
