Whitby runs riot

From the Armidale Independent, 30/07/2014
Weston Whitby kicked nine goals in a dominant display against Narrabri on Saturday to remind the Tamworth AFL competition that he’s still one of the most dangerous players in the league.

The New England Nomads skipper ran riot on the small Narrabri ground, racking up countless possessions for the visitors.

His performance was reflected on the scoreboard as New England hammered the Eagles by 113 points.

Whitby had plenty of support up forward, with leading goalkicker Dave Richards booting six goals, while coach Zac Economou drifted forward to snag four.

Jon Freund had another standout game, while Tom Hunt, Nick Sanders and Matt Woodward also contributed to the big win.

The Nomads are unbeaten with an 11-0 record and should make it 12-0 when it hosts the Tamworth Swans at Bellevue Oval this Saturday.

The Swans were flogged by 81 points against Inverell on Saturday, while the Tamworth Kangaroos defeated Gunnedah by 46 points.
