Richards scores in Nomads’ goal fest

Dave Richards booted 13 goals as the New England Nomads waltzed to victory in Gunnedah on Saturday, hammering the Bulldogs by 193 points.
Gunnedah restricted the Nomads to 12 goals in the first half, but were overpowered late in the game to lose 34.18 (222) to 4.5 (29).
Richards, who parked himself close to goals, was the hero with a big bag of goals, but the Nomads had contributors all across the ground.
Velani Chakalisa kicked three goals and was second best for New England, while Matt Foley, who booted four goals, was another solid performer.
Even coach Zac Economou got into the scoring action.
The reliable defender kicked four goals as he pushed forward.
After four rounds, the Nomads are undefeated and well clear at the top of the ladder.
They boast a percentage of 492.7 – well clear of Inverell and Tamworth Kangaroos, who are 3-1.
New England will start as the hot favourites when it hosts the Kangaroos this Saturday at Bellevue Oval, but the match should be much more competitive.
