Nomads rise to the challenge in West-Gunnedah
After losing the week before at home to the Tamworth Kangaroos, the Nomads have come back with a fine victory against Gunnedah. The match played in Narrabri was a danger game for the Nomads with a number of players still away. Yet the Nomads showed lots of endeavour and team spirit to win by 54 points.
The Nomads travelled to Narrabri after the ground in Gunnedah was ruled too wet by the local council. This was the first time many of the team (in fact most of them) had travelled to Narrabri to play with the Nomads.
The Nomads began the game with only 19 players and from the first bounce it was clear that the Dogs were going to provide some fight. The Nomads on-ballers were generally too strong for the Dogs and had first use of the ball most of the time. At half-time the game was still up for grabs. Then the rain came. This brought out the best in the Nomads and they allowed the Dogs only 2 more goals. The defence played admirably, especially first gamer Tim Snelling ( a new recruit who has played in the Black Diamond League) and the ever-reliable Captain Rowdy.
Jed Ellis-Cluff lead the goal kicking for the Nomads with 6 majors, while Freundy scored 3, Weston Whitby and James Boatfield two and Modra Richards and Zac Economou one apiece.
Best players for the Nomads were Snelling, Jed Ellis-Cluff, Zac Econonou, Hoani Morrell, Rowdy and Jon Freund.
Well done to everyone for a great team effort.
