Cats can’t purr against New England Nomads

From the Armidale Express, 23/04/2012
The New England Nomads recovered from their loss against the Tamworth Swans last week to crush the Musswellbrook Cats 155–42 on Saturday.

Benefiting from an undermanned opposition, the Nomads had scored five goals to one at quarter time and stayed ahead for the rest of the match.

Nomads foward Simon Stubbs kicked seven goals for his side and was assisted by several new players including David Graan and Cameron Griggs.

Former Nomads coach Brendan Meehan was impressed by the performance of the new players after the loss of much of last years side from the club.

“It’s been very pleasing for the club after such a turnover. We had a major loss of about 15 players last year who all left town, so we lost them from the club,” he said.

“A lot of blokes had their first game for the year and their first game for the club on Saturday. Overall the effort by every player on the field was just brilliant.”
