Nomads fall to Saints

A dominant six goal third quarter from the Inverall Saints helped them to a convincing 63 point win over New England Nomads at Varley Park on Saturday.
The win moved the Saints level with New England on 24 points, with only percentage keeping the Nomads ahead of the premiers in second place.
Inverell kicked a further six goals in the final quarter to run away with the match 21.12.138 to the Nomads’ 10.15.75.
The Nomads started well after only trailling by a point at quarter time 3.5.23 to 3.4.22.
However Inverell dominated the second term piling on six goals to New England’s two to lead by 22 points at the main break, 9.6.60 to 5.8.38. Saints coach Nick Baird kicked two goals in three minutes at the start of the third and from there they were never headed to run away with the match.
Nomads’ best were Hamish Ross who kicked four goals, Weston Whitby who bagged two and Dave Richards who also grabbed a double. Nomads coach Brendan Meehan said the Saints worked harder and deserved their win.
“We were missing a few blokes with other committments, but our opposition were prepared to work harder than us,” he said.
“Our attitude wasn’t great either so we’ll have to improve that ahead of our match against the Swans this week.”
In other results Kangaroos beat Narrabri by 35 points and Muswellbrook Cats beat the Swans by 18 points.

Nomads,
What a disapointment going down to Inverell. It just shows us we need to work harder on the track to beat the top sides.We can do it and I am looking forward to the results of next weeks game.
