Recruiting Drive
The Nomads have been actively recruiting heavily over the summer break and have picked up a number of exciting new footballers.
As part of the recruiting drive the Nomads were involved in the traditional life-savers day on O-Week at UNE. This year a number of player signed up including Darby Pearce (Hamish’s younger brother from Coffs and North Coast representative player), Nathan Lambie (from Ulverstone in Tasmania) and Richard Bradley (from Sydney).
This adds to an already burgeoning recruiting list that includes David Richards (a cousin of Weston and Frosty’s from Western Australia and a man who seems to have more nicknames than Frosty), Mitchell Reece (from Newcastle), Simon Stubbs (Sydney), Matt Woodward (Armidale), Dan Sides (Dubbo), Levi McKenzie-Kirkbright (a TAS student).
With the welcome return of the ever-popular Omphile Temoso from exile in Botswana and a number of the younger players (eg Jay Dunlop, Matt Bourke, Caleb Dobos and Tom Walsh) another year older and smarter, 2011 is shaping into a very promising year for the Nomads. This has already translated into good numbers at training and if the boys get behind coach Brendan Meehan we should be in for a good year.
