Out of it? Not this week

New England raised their game on Saturday to beat the Roos by 16.10 (106) to 11.13 (79). The Nomads put last weekend’s first quarter capitulation to the Inverell Saints behind them and came out fired up and chasing every ball. A great four-quarter effort saw the Nomads home quite comfortably against a Roos side that had won it’s previous two games.

Missing a few important players through injury and other commitments, Rich Malone was welcomed back for a guest appearance. It was like he had never been away as he slotted straight into the team and put in a typical ‘Stro King performance.

Weston Whitby played further up the field than usual to find some space for himself and create some for his fellow forwards. The tactic paid off as Matt Maxwell bagged four and Weston and Adrian Walsh kicked three apiece.

As has been the trend this season, the backline did brilliantly to reduce the Roos’ scoring chances and maintain pressure on their forwards. Mark Clayton deserves a special mention this week for keeping Roos’ hot-shot Dan Overeem to one goal for the afternoon.

One Response to “Out of it? Not this week”

  1. Brendo Says:

WELL DONE NOMADS. WHAT A GREAT WIN. I SEE THAT THE ROOS HAD WON THEIR LAST TWO GAMES SO IT SHOWS THAT WE WE HAVE THE ABILITY TO MAKE THE FOUR. WE ARE AT THE IMPORTANT TIME OF THE YEAR TO WIN ALL OUR GAMES TO ENSURE WE MAKE THE FINALS. ONCE IN THE FINALS WE CAN CONCENTRATE ON EACH TEAM AND KNOCK THEM OF ONE AT A TIME.

CONGRATULATIONS, I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE GOOD NEWS.

    ALL THE BEST,

    BRENDO
