Back on track in Muswellbrook

A comprehensive 4.3 (27) to 21.19 (145) victory over the Cats in Muswellbrook saw the Nomads return to winning ways.

In the first half New England were guilty of some wayward shooting and went into half time having kicked just six goals from 22 scoring shots. It was probably understandable that some anxiety and pressure came to bear as the team strived to get their first ‘real’ win since round one.

As the Cats flagged in the second half, having only one on the bench in this 17-a-side match, the Nomads movement made more space and all the first half shooting practice bore fruit. In the third and fourth quarters 15 goals and just three behinds were kicked.

A good performance and a good win. There is a lot still to do, of course. It would be easy to get carried away by the margin of victory but it must be remembered that this is about par for results in Muswellbrook this season. The Nomads now need to take the lessons from this game, in which they were able to execute more of the coach’s strategy, into the three tough home games coming up.
