Muswellbrook forfeit sees Nomads on top

From the Armidale Express, 11/05/2009
The New England Nomads are currently on top of the Tamworth Australian Football League (TAFL) competition ladder after the Muswellbrook Cats forfeited Saturday’s scheduled match.

The Armidale side hastily arranged an inter-club match to get some valuable game time ahead of next week’s road trip to Inverell.

The Saints went down by 50 points to the Swans in Tamworth, while in the match of the round the Gunnedah Bulldogs maintained their unbeaten start to the season with an 18-point win over the Tamworth Kangaroos at home.

The Bulldogs only had 20 players to contend with and were down at every break until a 30-point final quarter saw them take the spoils.
