Auskick’s back!
Following the mid-season, school holiday break, Auskick returns tomorrow (Saturday, 26 July) at the usual time (12noon-1.15pm) and usual place (Bellevue Oval, UNE). This week our skill focus will be ‘marking’ the football. The Nomads are playing away this week against the Tamworth Swans.
Sydney v Geelong
As a part of the AFL (NSW/ACT)’s ‘Welcome to AFL’ promotion, Armidale Auskick has been offered 4 family passes (2 adults & 2 children) to the Sydney v Geelong game at ANZ Stadium on the night of Saturday 16th August. We need to take up the offer without delay, so please respond immediately if you think that you may be interested.
Carnivals
Last Saturday, we had about 30 Armidale Auskickers join in with all the fun of the Auskick Carnival hosted by Tamworth. The weather was glorious and there was a massive crowd, lots of giveaways and a carnival atmosphere. The games were played in a good spirit, with the Tamworth coaches also noting the dramatic skills and game improvements with our teams since we played against each other up here last May.
Please note in your diary that the third and final regional Auskick Carnival will be held in Inverell during the afternoon of Saturday, 16 August. To help give us an idea of likely numbers, please let us know if you think you may be able to participate. We should be able to arrange lifts for kids if transport is a problem for you.
U14 Training
U14 training resumes this coming Thursday, 31 July from 4-5.15pm at Bellevue. The Swans Cup inter-school competition between TAS and Duval High resumes the following week, Thursday 7 August at 4pm.
U16 Fixture
A TAS team will play North Coffs Roos in an U16 fixture at Bellevue Oval on Sunday morning, 3 August – with details to be confirmed.
2009 Planning
Following on from a meeting last Saturday with the AFL Regional Manager, Shane McAloon, we are inviting comment and suggestions for how to make Auskick and Junior AFL bigger and better in Armidale in 2009. Please do share your thoughts and ideas with us!
