Rounds 10 and 11: Playing catch up

Been a bit slack the last couple of weeks; work, leave and what-not, so here are the details of the last two matches:

Round 10: Bulldogs at home
A strong, well-organised Gunnedah side lead all the way in this match and finished up 12.11 (83) to 6.10 (46) winners. A generally poor performance from the Nomads, with a few exceptions – notably from debut-boy Sam Trotman who promptly got injured the following day playing League.

Goalkickers for the Nomads were Dylan McGrath (2), Anthony Reid (2), Jay Wright and Sam Trotman.

Match-day awards went to Sam Trotman (Players’ Player and Coach’s), Clint Ballagh (Captain’s) and Mark Clayton (President’s).

Round 11: Roos at home
Another defeat, but this week a far better showing from the Nomads. Despite being let down by their marking skills at times and conceding from some soft free kicks, a good all-round effort saw the Nomads come back in the fourth quarter to lose by 13.13 (91) to 17.10 (112). Better accuracy in the third quarter, when they kicked 1.6, would have made for a very interesting finish to this match. As at Muswellbrook, the team work from the Nomads showed what they can do when they pull together and augurs well for the games when everybody is back on board.

Nomads’ goalkickers were Matt Maxwell (4), Weston Whitby (4), Dylan McGrath (2), Jay Wright, Ben Page and Josh Keogh.

The match-day awards were presented to Matt Maxwell (Players’ Player), Mark Clayton (Coach’s), Mark Curran (Captain’s) and Pete Welton (President’s).
