Round 7: Lost and found
After an excellent first half, the Nomads went missing in the third quarter against the Saints.
The team was found taking a nap under a bush by Pickles the dog and returned in time for the final quarter.
Meanwhile, the Saints had managed to outplay the 18 strategically-placed traffic cones that took the field for the Nomads after half time to have a 9-goal quarter and build a comfortable buffer that they maintained in the final period to run out 17.9 (111) to 10.6 (66) winners.
Goalkickers for the Nomads were Rich Malone (3), Weston Whitby (2), Pete Welton (2), Matt Maxwell (2) and Anthony Reid.
Match-day awards went to Matt Maxwell (Players’ Player), Clint Ballagh (Coach’s), Pete Welton (Captain’s) and Johnathon Frost (President’s).
This was a very good game of football and while the Nomads were disappointed to lose, especially by such a margin, both sides should take a lot of positives out of this performance.
