Swans on hand for Nomads celebration

Tomorrow will be a big day for the New England Nomads.
The Armidale side will host Tamworth at Bellevue Oval as they look to improve on last week’s mediocre win over Gunnedah, but the action isn’t just restricted to the field.
The club will also be celebrating their 10th anniversary to coincide with the AFL’s Community Football Weekend.
Players are encouraged to get back to regional areas during the week off to promote the game and Sydney Swans Heath Grundy and Jesse White have answered the call and will be on hand at tomorrow’s game.
The club’s 10th anniversary ball will be held at the Wicklow Hotel tomorrow evening.
Club president Ben Page said he was looking forward to a great day for the club.
“We’re expecting a really big crowd,” he said.
“The word is that Tamworth will be bringing a huge crowd as well, the Auskick last week was big and this week we’ve got the Swans and even more kids again.
“Heath and Jesse are both hanging around for the ball, they’ll be doing a few presentations as well.”
Page said the Nomads were relatively injury-free ahead of the Swans clash, with only himself and captain Glen Northway possibly missing.
“He’d (Northway) be a huge blow,” Page said.
“He’s not just one of our best players, he’s one of the best in the competition.”
The match kicks off at 2pm.
