Kids kick it in the big league

From the Armidale Express, 27/07/2007
Armidale Auskick took on a team from South West Rocks during half-time of the Sydney Swans match against the Fremantle Dockers earlier this month.

The players ran out onto the SCG, displayed their skills before a large crowd and then formed a guard of honour for the teams as they came out onto the field after half-time.

“The kids had a real buzz for the experience and they wanted to keep playing out there for much longer,” said Armidale coordinator, Craig Collins.

“It was also a real highlight for them to see their footy heroes up close, including the two Swans, Matty O’Dwyer and Heath Grundy, who paid a visit to Armidale a few weeks ago.

“The main game also got quite exciting towards the end.”

The Armidale team was: Cody Bourke, Will Brissett, Ben Collins, Jordan Johnson, Harrison Lawlor, Shane Leske, Madison Moar, Madeline Murphy and Andrew Spokes.

Auskick resumes tomorrow at Bellevue Oval, UNE from midday.
