The Tamworth Australian Football League (TAFL) will have its first double header of the season at Tamworth’s No. 1 Oval on Saturday.
In the first game at 1pm the Swans will host the Muswellbrook Cats.
The Swans will be looking to open their account for the season against the Cats who will be playing their first game for the season after having a bye in round one and a forfeit by the Narrabri Eagles last weekend.
The young Swans were beaten by the Nomads last week and will have a number of their missing stars back for the match this week.
The Swans are still settling on their line up for 2007 after the retirement of a number of their premiership players.
The Cats are still an unknown quantity and will be lacking in match practice.
Game two at 3pm sees the unbeaten Inverell Saints taking on the Tamworth Kangaroos.
The Saints were very impressive last week when they defeated the Gunnedah Bulldogs by 163 points in Inverell.
Although in good early season form the Saints have struggled against the Roos in Tamworth in recent seasons and this is a danger game.
The Roos are in a rebuilding phase as well after losing a number of senior players to retirement at the end of last season and their inexperience may be a telling factor at the end of the match.
In the third match of the weekend the Gunnedah Bulldogs will host the New England Nomads.
The Nomads completely outclassed the Tamworth Swans last weekend and the undermanned Bulldogs wer thrashed by the Saints.
The Bulldogs are expected to have at least three or four senior players back in the side this weekend and will be tough to beat at home.
The Nomads should have too much skill and experience for the Bulldogs and should record their third win of the season.
