Nomads, Swans AFL grand final
From the Armidale Express, 04/09/2006
The New England Nomads will face the Tamworth Swans in this Saturday’s AFL grand final after the Swans’ 114 point demolition of title contenders the Inverell Saints at No. 1 Oval.
The Swans were never headed and held a commanding lead right from the word go, piling on eight goals to lead the Saints by 49 points at the first break.
The Saints must be shattered as going into the game their form was good and they had held their own all season.
Saturday was obviously not their day, but the Swans can look towards this weekend with confidence.
The Saints can look back on a good season, one that saw their club get much stronger across the board and officials predict they will be featuring in many more finals matches in the future.
If the Swans have come through injury free, then the grand final promises to be entertaining. The Swans are still stinging after a controversial after-the-bell goal from a high tackle free kick last time they met the Nomads.
The Nomads are expected to be on their game for the decider, and a strong partisan university crowd can be expected to do their best to make the Swans feel uncomfortable.

I wouldn’t normally edit the story from a paper, but I felt I had to for this one, as the headline “Nomads, Saints AFL grand final” was a bit too wide of the mark.

Well done on a great season so far. It’s obvious you’ve got the skill and firepower to go all the way. It’s great to see some last year’s “beginners” stepping into the leadership roles across the paddock. Enjoy the day and keep up the Nomads premiership tradition.
Cheers
