Major SF: What a scorcher!
The Nomads earned a home Grand Final with an after the siren goal from Weston Whitby to defeat the Tamworth Swans. The match was tight throughout as the two best football sides in this year’s TAFL competition fought hard in the hot spring sunshine all afternoon.
New England put in their strongest four quarters of football of the season, their best performance since the early season draw with the Muswellbrook Cats.
Coaches Walsh and Nolan can take a lot of credit for the revitalised running game and the much improved forward set up. Glen ‘Norm’ Northway and Weston Whitby created all sorts of problems, Norm’s strong leading and power in the air complementing the speed, handling and shooting ability of Weston. Weston bagged another nine goals today, while Norm got six.
All around the ground the Nomads put in high quality performances; competing for every ball and playing quality running football. Too many good performers to name today – a big pat on the back for everyone.
A few days to bask in the glow of this win before starting to work towards the Grand Final at Bellevue on September 9. Its going to be a cracker.
Match details will follow.
