Sam kicks it to ’em

In Victoria, Aussie Rules is a religion but for one ex-Victorian the chance to watch an AFL Grand Final has only come since moving to Armidale.
When Sam Campbell moved to Armidale with his family a year ago from Melbourne, the Carlton fan had never been to see a grand final match but has now won the opportunity of a lifetime.
The 8-year-old was selected from the 2000 Auskickers in northern NSW to play Auskick at the MCG at half-time of the AFL Grand Final in September.
Sam will be accompanied by his father Joe and will travel to Melbourne to participate in Grand Final activities from Thursday of Grand Final week.
NAB AFL Auskick Ambassador Robert ‘Dipper’ DiPierdomenico said being in Melbourne for the biggest week in Australia’s sporting calendar was the opportunity of a lifetime.
“I know from experience the grand final is the ultimate experience,” Dipper said.
Every NAB AFL Auskick participant across Australia, aged between five and 12, was automatically entered into the competition, which was electronically drawn on Monday August 14 at AFL House in Melbourne. One winner from each of the 94 development regions across Australia was selected, making this one of the biggest kids’ competitions of its kind.
