With the New England Nomads having continued success this season at the top of the TAFL ladder, a team of junior Nomads will get a taste of big time AFL football at the Sydney Cricket Ground this Saturday night.

The team – made up of 8- and 9-year olds – will play an Auskick match under lights during half-time of the AFL clash between the Sydney Swans and St Kilda.

“The buzz the kids get from running out and playing on the hallowed turf before a massive crowd is huge,” said the side’s coach, Craig Collins.

“For Armidale kids, it is like stepping through the television set and, quite literally, rubbing shoulders with their AFL heros.

“They usually take away from the experience a deep sense of excitement about the game, which is hard to shake.”
