Golden child gets winning goal

From the Armidale Express Extra’s ‘On ya, sport’, 17/05/2006
His team mates call him the ‘golden child’ and not without reason.

Nomad ruckman Tom Hunt proved he was the real deal when he won New England’s match against Inverell on the hooter on Saturday night during their Tamworth Aussie Rules match-up.

Hunt kicked a long range goal to push the score out to 78-76 in favour of the Nomads.

It must be noted however Hunt only got it on a second attempt after one of the Saints over stepped the mark.

Still even if it did take two attempts, he did sink it in the end and that’s all that matters.

There’s now a running argument between Hunt and his house and team mate John Mahy as to who’s the best player for the Nomads.
