Round 3: Honours even at Bellevue

The Nomads and Cats fought out a high quality, very competitive draw on Saturday. The final score was Nomads 10.13 (73), Cats 11.7 (73).

The Cats got an 11 point lead in the first quarter and maintained a 10 point margin until the last quarter. The Nomads overhauled them in the final quarter to lead by five points, then conceded another goal before drawing level with a few minutes left to play.

The standard of play from both teams was high throughout the match, but in the pub afterwards both coaches reckoned there was room for their side to improve. Should be an interesting season if they can manage it. The Nomads will certainly be hoping to shoot a bit straighter in the coming weeks.

Goal scorers for the Nomads were: Glen Northway (2), Tom Hunt (2), Anthony Fisher, Matt Maxwell, Anthony Reid, Jack Sartor, Rhys Whitby and Weston Whitby.

The named best players were Tom Hunt, John Mahy, Gus McKenzie, Matt Maxwell, Adrian Walsh and Rich Malone.
