From the Armidale Express, 05/09/2011 The New England Nomads will have to wait another week to book their grand final berth after being beaten by 58 points in the Essential Energy preliminary final against Tamworth Kangaroos.

In difficult wet conditions at the Bellevue, the groundwork and speed of the Nomads were pivotal in a satisfying 27 point victory over the Inverell Saints; a victory in which every player contributed. A second quarter blitzkrieg of 7 goals into the wind by the Tamworth Roos was the centrepiece of their victory over the Nomads on Saturday. The Nomads, who had a number of key players out, battled on to show some pride on the second half, even outscoring the Roos in the final quarter.

Despite injuries to a number of key players, and some excellent running football on the part of the Gunnedah Bulldogs, the Nomads were able to shrug off their opponents in the second half to run out eventual winners, the final margin being 17 points.
