History

Although the New England Nomads was founded in 1999, the history of Aussie Rules at the University of New England goes back to the early 60s. This history is closely tied up with the development of the game in the region.

In 2004, a reunion of UNE footballers was held in Melbourne. As part of that celebration articles from people that were part of the Aussie Rules scene over the years were collected.

Those articles are reproduced here to give a flavour of the tradition of Aussie Rules in Armidale and the wider New England region.
