Nomads keen to move forward against the Roos

The Nomads are keen to get their Tamworth Australian Football League season back on track against the Kangaroos tomorrow.

New England have had a two week hiatus from football after a player shortage forced them to forfeit to the Saints and a bye.

While both player and coaching staff were disappointed the combination of university holidays, injuries and other commitments forced a forfeit against Inverell, they’re confident the club can get their season back on track against Tamworth.

“For a start we’ll have a side, which is an improvement on a couple of weeks ago,” coach Adrian Walsh said.

“Unfortunately not as many people are back as I would have liked, but we’ll still have a reasonable side.

“I’m a bit worried about the skill levels having dropped off with people away and fitness down a little bit.

“It was good numbers at training even though it was bitterly cold. Everyone trained really well.”

The Nomads will be bolstered by the return of Dylan McGrath and Caleb Dobos while goalscoring sensation Mark Handley remains fit after an injury scare against Gunnedah.

However, despite the improved numbers Walsh knows it will be hard against the seasoned Tamworth team.

“The Roos are hard to play on their own oval. It’s a pretty small oval and they play it well so we’ll have our work cut out for us,” he said.

  1. Frank Drum Says:

Good to see the curly haired wog back for this weeks game. The burning questions remains though, how many meat pies did he eat while he was at home and just how many kg’s did he put on.

    Frank’s Tips:
Mcgrath for 2 lazy/fat goals in the forward sprocket, and Overeem to breath a sigh of relief when one D Drum doesn’t line up on him at the opening bounce.
